In The Only Way Out is Through the paintings have become objects—they’re no longer hung on a wall. Instead, they are sculptural forms, able to stand on their own. Although these works hail from a long lineage of exquisite romantic painters, they move into a contemporary realm by using their conceptual grounding as a framework for the sculptural form. They reach their conceptual potential as they intersect one another, a gesture that is violent yet stable, although one painting pierces the other

They are dependent on one another, the calm and serene being just as important and necessary as the tumultuous and unstable. As they hold one each other up, they become surrogates for the person(s) supporting one another.
